3 ways to transport your Warhammer miniatures !

Looking for an efficient solution to store and transport your Warhammer miniatures safely?

Even if you have a multitude of possibilities, the different existing solutions are not all the same, each one having its advantages and disadvantages in terms of cost of protecting the miniatures or efficiency. It’s up to you to find the one that best suits your needs, and for that purpose we offer you 3 practical and simple tips for transporting your Warhammer miniatures.

The miniature case: The easiest way to protect and transport your miniatures

The miniature case remains the best method for an easy and secure transport of your Warhammer miniatures. These carrying cases are equipped with protective foam, with spaces to be cut out or predefined and adapted to accommodate all your miniatures regardless of their shape, size or number.

Depending on the model you choose, you won’t need to cut the foam to fit your miniatures, which saves you a lot of time. Technically, the foam contained in the box traps each miniature when the case is closed.

The advantage with the case like the Citadel cases is that it offers good protection, allows easy storage and a wide variety of miniatures, even the largest, simplifying transport between your home, the miniature shop, your gaming or exhibition venue.

The metal crate with magnetic base: Cheap solution but with its defects

For this method, all you need to do is magnet the bases of your miniatures beforehand and get a toolbox type metal box that can hold the size of your army. This way, the magnetic force will keep them fixed to prevent them from being damaged or broken during transport. This is quite handy to store and easily deploy a large army.

The method remains more or less effective if you choose magnets that are strong enough. It is also quite economical, given the more affordable price of the small magnets and the price of the box used as a shelter.

However, it is not free of defects. For example, if you have large miniatures or equipment such as tanks, or if your miniatures are equipped with poorly optimized removable bases, the risk of unhooking or breakage is not excluded. Basically, there is no 100% guaranteed protection with the metal case with magnetic base.

The bubble wrap box: Better than nothing, but not really ideal

The last trick to transport your Warhammer miniatures is simply to use a cardboard box lined with bubble wrap. This solution is by far the least recommended, as it is not really ideal to easily store your miniatures or offer them optimal protection during your travels, as no stability is assured.

Despite its limitations, this solution has at least the merit of being the cheapest of all and worth much better than nothing. In any case, note that it is mainly a solution to adopt temporarily or to store old figurines in the back of a closet.

Our recommendation for transporting your figurines

For us the most durable and above all the most efficient solution is the use of a transport case with a good layer of protective foam on the inside. You can choose between ready-to-use transport cases such as the one from Games Workshop and others that you can make yourself from a case and the protective foam to be cut out.

Of course it’s an investment if you have a large and beautiful miniature army to carry. But what’s your choice between a few miniatures damaged in a cheap box every time you move and a box to protect them efficiently?
